Nadi Dosh Kya Hai? Meaning
Nadi means "channel" or "pulse". In Vedic matching, each of the 27 nakshatras belongs to one of three Nadis. The Nadi koota carries 8 points, the most of the eight kootas in Ashtakoota Guna Milan.
- If the two partners have different Nadis, the couple gets the full 8 points.
- If they share the same Nadi (called Ek Nadi Dosh), they get 0 points, and that is Nadi Dosh.
Why traditionally? The three Nadis are linked to the Ayurvedic body types (Vata, Pitta and Kapha). Tradition holds that two people with the same constitution may not balance each other, and it connects this to health and children. - Compare. If both belong to the same Nadi, it is Nadi Dosh. If they are different, there is none.

- Madhya Nadi Dosh: both in Madhya

- Same nakshatra, but different padas (charans). The partners' Moons share a nakshatra but sit in different quarters of it.
- Same Rashi (Moon sign), but different nakshatras. The Moon signs are the same while the nakshatras differ.
- Same nakshatra, but different Rashis. Some nakshatras span two signs.
- Friendly or identical Moon sign lords. Some astrologers also consider the dosh reduced when the two Moon signs are ruled by the same planet or by friends.
- Strong results elsewhere in the charts. Many astrologers look at the rest of the match, such as Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakoot, the 7th house, Venus and Jupiter, before judging.
Nadi Dosh and the Total Guna Milan Score
A same-Nadi couple loses the 8 Nadi points, so the maximum possible score is 28 out of 36. That is still above the traditional minimum of 18, so a couple with Nadi Dosh can still have an acceptable or good overall score.
